[ After a rather long spell of being a bit of a hermit, guess who's making an effort to be social?

That's right. Especially since a Very Important Someone has finally showed up again, though seemingly lacking memories of last time. Well, it won't be hard getting her started again. ]

Uh... Hi, everyone! I hope you're all doing well. [ ...no now's not the time for that ]

So last month, a really close friend of mine arrived here in Luceti--Anri Sonohara-san. She's from Ikebukuro too, and is a classmate of mine and Masaomi's.

.. It's nice to meet you all.

...Though, it doesn't seem she remembers the last time she was here. So if you were her friend, come introduce yourself! I'm sure she won't mind, right? [ er, this is a bit odd-- ]

Um-- that's.. that's okay.

--Anyway, I'll be showing her around the village today, if you need us.

[ Like Mikado said, you can indeed find both of them out and about the village today.

And they really will be everywhere--in all the town center shops and facilities, the rec center and battledome, even as far out as the hot spring. And since he's really trying to make a good impression to Anri here, he'll be chatting up anyone who looks like they'll take a short conversation, whether or not he's met them before. Gotta work hard to get the girl ok!!!!

[Katara turns when she's addressed, seeing two familiar faces.]

Hello, Mikado. How are you?

[And she smiles at Anri, pending imminent the (re?)introduction.]

[ Nothing. Nothing at all comes to mind when she sees Katara-- to her, she's just as strange and confusing as everything else has been thus far.

No offence.

But because she isn't a horrible person, she'll lower her head and bow-- then look to Mikado expectantly for some sort of explanation. ]

I'm fine.

[ He smiles, first to Katara and then to Anri. ]

Sonohara-san, this is Katara-san. [ sorry i know you asked him to drop the honorifics ages ago but he'll stick to them-- ] She's Masaomi's [ uh ] friend.

[ She bows again, just as a safety measure. You can't be too polite, right? ]

Um.. i-it's nice to meet you, Katara-san. [ She uses them religiously too, sorry. She's not going to question the "friend" part, though. ]

[Sigh. Again with the honorifics.

Katara smiles.]

It's nice to meet you too. Please.

[FLICK A GLANCE AT MIKADO BECAUSE YOU KNOW BETTER, BOY.]

Just call me Katara.

--Ah, right. [ oops. Give him a week and he'll be back to -san

He tilts his head at her, curiously. ] Did you meet her last time?

[ She's probably as bad as he is with this sort of thing-- so the honorific won't be disappearing any time soon. Sorry.

Even if the question's directed to Katara(-san), she'll jump the gun and answer anyway (because she'd remember ever meeting someone!). ]

This is the first time we've met, I think..

[ Not that she'd ever know. ]

Ah - it was a long time ago.

[Katara fudged.]

Sometimes who we meet isn't the easiest to recall. But when did you arrive?

[ Mikado glances at Anri. It's not his place to respond!

And it would be good if they got acquainted and became lady friends. He always felt bad for having her dragged around everywhere with him and Masaomi back home... ]

Ah-- it was a few days ago.. maybe a week..

[ Anri smiles to try and make things less awkward, but it doesn't end up working. ]

But you've both been here for a while, haven't you..?

[If it helps, Anri, Katara's not feeling awkward. She's used to this nonsense by now.]

About two and a half years now. [A small twist of a smile.] Time flies when you're having fun.

[No. Bad Katara. No scaring the new feather.]

I've gotten to meet a lot of amazing people here, so it's not all bad.

And in a similar vein, Mikado won't be counting the first time he was here. JUST AS LONG AS SHE DOESN'T TALK TO ANYONE WHO'S BEEN HERE FOR LIKE 5 YEARS-- ]

That long? [ Which was an instinct reaction. He actually didn't know that. NO MIKADO NO DON'T EMPHASIZE THE LENGTH OF TIME ]

I've only been here about a year.

[ Those are both very lengthy periods of time. She.. lets them both sink in for a little bit. Years? She only wants to be here for a few months! --she'll come to learn she doesn't have a choice in the matter, but that's besides the point.

As daunting as numbers are, though, she'll try not to make Mikado worry-- because she can tell that the subject isn't exactly something he wants to talk about.

Yes, Masaomi and I are good friends. I'm sure he's happy to see you again.

[ Glancing at Anri--he vaguely remembers him piping up on her first journal entry, but doesn't know if they talked any after that. His imagination goes for a spin and the thought of them meeting up without telling him just makes him a bit jealous, even though Masaomi himself said he wouldn't get in his way, for reasons he doesn't know but are probably related to the non-Japanese in front of him...

Okay no no no, now's not the time for that. PUSHING THAT ASIDE... ]

We're hoping to run into him today.

Um.. if you'd like, we can tell him that you said hello.

[ Unless Katara wants to come along, of course. She's suggesting that they do this because she's nice, not because she knows about the complicated workings behind both Katara's and Masaomi's relationship.

[Katara's unfazed by this offer. Why? Because she has no clue about what Masaomi's been getting up to behind her back.

So she just shrugs.]

Sure! Maybe try by the Battle Dome, I know he and Linda have been doing a lot of practicing in the summer.

[ NO NOT THE BATTLE DOME ]

A-Ah, yeah! Sure, I'm sure Sonohara-san might find the battle dome interesting. [ Glancing at her... Does she do fight stuff with Saika? He can't remember. ]

Linda..?

[ Head tilt. She doesn't know anyone with that name, and it doesn't sound even remotely familiar.

She gives Mikado a dismissive hand wave, though. Saika's a big red emergency button that's only for really, really important stuff. Really important stuff. ]

[Blink.]

You don't know who Linda is?

[Glance at Mikado.]

Have you guys... not seen Masaomi at all?

Ah... not yet.

[ A little frown. This feels familiar. ]

But that's partially why we're out today! So we can... find him...

[ Head shake. Is she supposed to know who Linda is? As far as she's concerned, it's another one of these new people Mikado's gradually introducing her to. ]

I'm.. sure we'll see him later on today. [ But she looks to Mikado because she's not entirely sure what to make of everything. ]

Well...

[This is awkward now.

But she barely lets it pause her. There IS a way out, after all.]
