Hi, um... I was wondering. If someone has no combat experience but really wants to take something up, then... where do you start? What kind of, uh... things do you recommend? I really don't know anything about this so I just... thought I'd ask.

What would be recommended would depend on what you wish to do. Are you wishing to only defend yourself? To protect others? To be able to kill the enemy in a draft?

That's just a little vague of a request, but I'll give it a shot. Learning basic close quarters is a good idea. [If anything, it'll get you an upper hand in a barfight, right? And of course, if you're fighting a weaponless enemy....] You planning on using any particular weapons? Rifles? ... Weird magic spirit stuff?

I have been training my whole life, but it is possible to start learning at any age, if you are determined and have a good teacher.

Well, in my case, I ended up learning witchcraft. Computer hacking, just not cutting it, you know? I'm no use when it comes to the fisticuffs, so it feels nice to have something else you're good at.

Unless...fisticuffs was what you had in mind? If you were talking more of a hand-to-hand, or every-weapon-under-the-sun situation, then, I don't have much in the way of advice, but...I do have a friend who might be able to help you out.
